Jakkoan Zendo Snapshots
The zendo is open, for silent meditation.
Jakkoan Zendo was named by Hojosama Keibun Otogawa,
and dedicated by Shoho Michael Newhall, Resident Teacher at Jikoji.
Keibun's Calligraphy translates:
"Jak" - calm, quiet, deep silence,
"ko" - light, and
"an" - small zendo, or hermitage.
The wood and glass structure of about 24 by 16 feet.
was built mostly from recycled materials
that blend with the redwood, bay, and oak trees.
surrounding its small, isolated meadow.
